Visual Kei
For those who are unfamiliar with visual Kei, which is a Japanese phrase, think Kiss and other glam rock bands of the 80's and before. Visual Kei Bands of Japan are basically a band, who made a huge mark not only with their music, but with how they dress and act on stage. Right now the Japanese Rock and music business is hitting America and Canada by storm. The biggest names being Gackt, Dir en Grey and Alice Nine, are just a very tiny few of this large hit. You know Gwen Stephani and her Herajuku girls? well think their dress and style, mixed with rock, throughout the entire group. It's amazing. I have been a fan of Visual Kei for more than eight years and I still find it difficult to think of words that are equal in greatness to what Visual Kei is, and for me it all started by looking at costumes. Anyone who has an appreciation for fashion will know that a costume can make or break a band, but with visual kei, the more out there it is, the better. Trust me, it is also not just the boys that are playing dress-up. Girls such as from the bands 'Hear', 'Layla' and 'Seed' wear such amazing outfits, that it is hard to imagine them without it. If you are ever looking for a new style, or a costume for a party, or just hiting the bars, I highly recommend looking up Japanese bands and artists. They have the most original outfits I have ever seen.
Before you even think it, I have to say that it is not just emo kids that look up to these idols, many people world wide look to and are amazed by such fashions. Most of todays 'crazy' hair colors and styles are thanks to the muse that is Japan. Visual Kei not only dazzles your eyes but it tends to inspire your ow creativity and imganitation. So if it's a halloween costume, a new hair style, or something punk rock, I would recommend searching something Visual Kei. Oh ya, and if you ever are inspired to create your own Visual Kei group, give me a shout! I'm always open ears and an honest tongue.
